In keeping with the theme of this year’s music festival, the Well of Hope is a short metaphorical tale about the power of cultural exchange in today’s troubled world.
The text, by Kay d’Astorg, will be read in Arabic by Moroccan actress, Amal Ayouch, accompanied by the Oud of Hamza El Fasiki.

Corina Kwami is an entertainer in jazz, swing, soul and funk on stage and dance halls in London, UK. She sings original and standard tunes for jazz dancers, big bands, blues ensembles and funk groups. Her original work combines these genres to tell stories about living in a city and coming of age. The work is strongly influenced by living in different cities – NYC, DC, Rabat, Geneva, Berlin, Kigali and London. Her most recent project includes a tour using song to tell the story of jazz in Berlin.

This concert, organized by the ALC-ALIF Music Club, is free and open to the general public.

“The Contemporary Debate Over the “Scientific Miracles” of the Qur’ān”

Stefano Bigliardi, drawing upon the research that resulted in his 2014 monograph “Islam and the Quest for Modern Science” and in his recent article “The ‘Scientific Miracle of the Qur’ān,’ Pseudoscience, and Conspiracism” (Zygon: Journal of Religion and Science 52-1, March 2017), will discuss a precise classification of the exegetical trend known as iʿjāz ʿilmī, as well as the criticism leveled at it on behalf of Muslim authors and scientists.
Stefano Bigliardi obtained a PhD in Philosophy of Science at the University of Bologna in 2008. He later joined as lecturer and researcher at the faculty of CMES (Center for Middle Eastern Studies) at Lund University, Sweden. Between 2013 and 2015, he served as a philosophy teacher at Tec de Monterrey, Campus Santa Fe, Mexico City. Between 2015 and 2016, he was a fellow of the Foundation for Interreligious and Intercultural Research and Dialogue (FIIRD) in Geneva, Switzerland. Since September 2016 he serves as an Assistant Professor of philosophy at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane.
